‘La Bola Negra’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’ appear in 2027 Oscar Best Picture predictions

Variety’s October 1 Best Picture predictions include ‘La Bola Negra,’ ‘Dune: Part Three,’ ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Project Hail Mary.’ Variety says ‘La Bola Negra’ won Toronto’s People’s Choice Award, but cautions that it is not a lock to deliver Netflix’s first Best Picture Oscar. IndieWire separately names the film’s directors, Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, among its Best Director frontrunners.
