NBC’s ‘Newlyweds’ and planned ‘Dinks’ offer a possible opening for multicamera sitcoms
TheWrap sees promise in NBC’s Friday comedy block and a Prime Video project built around live-audience suggestions.
TLDR
NBC’s ‘Newlyweds’ joins ‘Happy’s Place’ on Fridays, while Marta Kauffman’s planned ‘Dinks’ will take suggestions from a live audience, TheWrap reports. The outlet calls the greenlights a point of hope for multicamera comedy, not proof of a comeback: it notes that few such shows currently air. USA TODAY critic Kelly Lawler praised ‘Newlyweds’ but found fault with a supporting character.
