Puck reported that Netflix was preparing a restructuring that could affect about 5% of its employees and might be announced as early as the following week. Deadline separately reported that sources described the expected cuts as significant, but said the timing was unclear and estimates of their size varied. Netflix declined to comment to both outlets.
A 5% reduction would represent roughly 800 to 850 jobs, depending on the headcount used. Puck based its estimate of about 850 jobs on a workforce of roughly 17,000. Variety noted that Netflix reported about 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025, which would put the figure closer to 800. The departments that could be affected were not known.
Netflix's last major layoffs came in 2022, when it cut about 450 jobs after a quarterly subscriber decline. Variety reported that the company also eliminated several dozen positions from its global product team earlier in 2026. Deadline said Netflix's stock had fallen more than 40% over the previous year while viewing engagement grew 2% in the first half of 2026, though the company has not publicly tied those figures to the reported cuts.
