Paramount puts Johnny Depp's Scrooge on Venmo to promote 'Ebenezer'

The A.V. Club reports that Paramount announced a Venmo account for Johnny Depp's Ebenezer Scrooge to promote Ti West's upcoming Christmas film, 'Ebenezer.' The movie's account invited people to request money and sent requesters one cent. The A.V. Club, citing Variety, says the requests temporarily jammed Venmo traffic Friday evening, though the issue appeared to have been fixed.
