Pro-Palestinian protesters gather outside Ed Sheeran’s Philadelphia show after Macklemore’s removal

Variety reports that the September 19 protest came ahead of Sheeran’s first performance since Macklemore was dropped from his tour. Fox News says demonstrators outside Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field waved Palestinian flags and chanted “Free Palestine.” The outlet reports that Macklemore’s removal followed his opening set at MetLife Stadium and that four other openers withdrew in solidarity. Sheeran maintains the decision wasn’t his.

The Hollywood Reporter says Melissa Barrera called the support for Macklemore “beautiful,” contrasting it with her own experience: “I didn’t get that when it happened to me.” The outlet notes that she was fired from the “Scream” franchise in 2023 after sharing her support for Palestine.
