Netflix has released the first trailer for The Altruists, an eight-episode limited series dramatizing the relationship between Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison and the rise and collapse of FTX. Anthony Boyle plays Bankman-Fried, while Julia Garner plays Ellison.
Netflix frames the pair as ambitious young idealists who tried to remake global finance before they were accused of stealing billions of dollars. Creator, co-showrunner and writer Graham Moore says the series follows how their relationship and stated altruistic aims gave way to increasingly serious crimes.
One commenter reacting to the trailer joked that the show would not be worth watching unless it included Bitboy’s flight to the Bahamas to look for Bankman-Fried.
The Altruists premieres November 19 on Netflix. The official trailer is available now.
