RJ Mitte, the actor best known for playing Walter White Jr. on AMC’s Breaking Bad, has died at 34, Entertainment Weekly reported. People reported that a representative confirmed his death as suicide.
Mitte lived with cerebral palsy, as did his Breaking Bad character. In a statement shared by Culture Crave, his representatives said he drew on that experience to advocate for disability awareness, inclusion and greater representation. The statement also asked for privacy for his family and loved ones.
His credits beyond Breaking Bad included Switched at Birth, Triumph, The Oak Room and The Guardians of Justice, according to IndieWire.
Bryan Cranston, who played Mitte’s television father on Breaking Bad, remembered meeting him when he was 14 and praised his determination, growth as an actor and advocacy for performers with disabilities. “I’ll miss you, son,” Cranston wrote in a tribute shared by Culture Crave.
