Denis Villeneuve sees the next Bond film as his way out of Arrakis

Villeneuve told Empire he returned to Dune not out of nostalgia, but because he was “tired of it” and wanted to be severe with the material. He saw the next Bond film as the “very powerful rocket” he needed to pull him away from Arrakis once the trilogy was done. Empire reports that Dune: Part Three is set 17 years after Part Two, with Paul Atreides living with the consequences of his rule.
