The New Times reported on September 19 that Ed Sheeran’s US tour faced backlash after Macklemore was removed from the lineup following his onstage calls to “Free Palestine.” According to the outlet, Sheeran said promoter Messina Touring Group made the decision and that he does not use his professional platform for politics. Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Beoga had also withdrawn. The outlet said Sheeran was set to continue without opening acts, with 10 more US shows scheduled before the tour moved to South America and Mexico.
