Apple Original Films has released the first extended trailer for “Being Heumann,” Siân Heder’s follow-up to “CODA.” Ruth Madeley stars as disability-rights activist Judy Heumann in the biopic, which opened the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10. IndieWire reports that Heder and co-writer Rebekah Taussig adapted Heumann’s autobiography.

Rather than cover Heumann’s entire life, the film concentrates on the 1977 Section 504 sit-in at the San Francisco Federal Building. According to Deadline, Heumann led more than 100 disabled people in the 28-day occupation as protesters demanded enforcement of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and greater accessibility in federal spaces.

Mark Ruffalo plays the bureaucrat opposing the protesters. Dylan O’Brien, Jon Beavers, Rob Delaney and Ray Fisher also appear in the cast.

“Being Heumann” is scheduled to open in select theaters on Nov. 6, 2026, before streaming globally on Apple TV on Nov. 13.
