‘Adventure Time: Side Quests’ season two premiere was largely animated in-house

Cartoon Brew reports that the October 2 premiere, “Death Fiction,” was largely animated in-house and completed in 20 weeks. Supervising director Victor Courtright says storyboard artists Keith Pakiz and Matt Yang handled most of the animation. Showrunner Nate Cash says keeping the work with the artists who boarded it preserved details that can be lost when animation passes between teams. He says the results prompted discussions about more in-house episodes if the series continues.
