Gwyneth Paltrow is set to lead The Apology, a thriller from A24 and Cut To that Deadline reports Netflix ordered for two seasons straight to series. Netflix declined to comment to Deadline. Variety describes the part as Paltrow's first lead role in a television series, though she has appeared on Glee and played a supporting role in The Politician.

According to the series logline quoted by Variety, Paltrow plays Evelyn Amspoker. Her son with her husband, Caleb, was murdered 18 years ago. A stranger confesses, but the couple learns the killer may receive a reduced sentence and decides to take matters into their own hands.
