Orville Peck’s lyric about making out with a Raiders player

Variety reports that Orville Peck sings on his new album: “I love the Lakers, the Mets and the Longhorns, made out with a guy on the Raiders.” Peck says he got the subject’s permission and deliberately kept the reference “ambiguous and mysterious.” He says he would not have included the lyric if the person were hiding or fearful of it coming out, and he didn’t think naming him was necessary.
