‘Ranabaali’ trailer reportedly tops 30 million digital views

Mythri Movie Makers said the Ranabaali trailer surpassed 30 million digital views a day after its Oct. 8 debut. The studio’s promotional post also reiterated the period action film’s worldwide Oct. 16 release; the figure is the company’s own tally.

The Indian Express reports that Rahul Sankrityan’s film is set in a fictional Rayalaseema village during the Madras famine of 1876–78. Vijay Deverakonda plays the title character, who takes up arms against British forces, while Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Jayamma, and Arnold Vosloo plays British commissioner Sir Theodore Hector.

The historical setting should not be mistaken for a literal biography. Sankrityan as alternate history and “pure fantasy”; Vosloo’s character is based on British official Sir Richard Temple.
