Inde Navarrette described joining Marvel's X-Men as Rogue as both an "honor" and a chance to carry forward a character she admired long before being cast. Speaking at the Newport Beach Film Festival, she called the film "a beautiful project", according to a clip shared by Variety.
In additional remarks transcribed by DiscussingFilm from the Variety footage, Navarrette said she fell in love with the earlier X-Men movies when she was younger and praised Anna Paquin's work as Rogue. She said she felt honored to "put forth this next moment."
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced Navarrette as Rogue at D23 in August. Reuters reported that the cast also includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister. The film is scheduled for May 2028.
