Buena Vista Social Club will play its final Broadway performance Jan. 17, 2027. Producers announced the closing date Nov. 6, 2026, Greg Evans reported in Deadline.
The musical opened at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 19, 2025, following previews that began Feb. 21. Its scheduled closing will bring the Broadway run to nearly two years.
The financial finish line is still ahead. Deadline reported that the production had not recouped its reported $17 million investment, though producers expect it to do so before closing. Lead producer Orin Wolf described the Broadway production as “on schedule to recoup” in a statement carried by Deadline and Caitlin Huston in The Hollywood Reporter.
Inspired by the Cuban musicians behind the 1997 Buena Vista Social Club album, the musical moves between the album’s creation and the musicians’ past, Huston reported. It is the first Broadway show with a score sung entirely in Spanish. That distinction applies to the score, not the entire production.
The production received five Tony Awards in 2025, including a Special Tony Award for its onstage band. The other awards recognized Natalie Venetia Belcon’s featured performance, choreography, orchestrations and sound design, Deadline reported.
The Broadway closing does not mark the end of the show’s other productions. As of the Nov. 6 announcement, a North American tour and productions in Puerto Rico and Mexico City were running alongside Broadway. A .
