Ben Affleck reportedly nearly cast Jennifer Garner as his onscreen wife in ‘Animals’

Variety reports that Affleck wanted Garner as the leading lady in ‘Animals,’ which he directs, until a scheduling conflict meant he would have to take the role opposite her. Affleck recalled Garner objecting to the pairing: “We don’t wanna do that. You just get baggage.” He said he still wants to work with her in the future but didn’t want “the audience’s baggage” working against them. Variety lists the film’s Netflix premiere as October 9.
