@TheCinestheticScarlett Johansson says her mysterious role in THE BATMAN PART II gave her “a lot of existential angst,” describing it as one of the most difficult characters she’s had to figure out. “It’s very hard to crack. It’s a tough role.” Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Johansson explained that she couldn’t quite pinpoint whether the challenge came from the character itself or her own circumstances at this stage of her life. She also made it clear that she couldn’t reveal anything more about the role. What’s particularly interesting is that DC Studios has still kept her character’s identity under wraps since her casting was announced. That hasn’t stopped speculation, with Gilda Dent and Poison Ivy among the names circulating online, but neither has been confirmed. Johansson joins Robert Pattinson’s returning Batman in Matt Reeves’ sequel, alongside Sebastian Stan, who is also playing a mystery character, and newcomers including Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. After playing Black Widow across the MCU, Johansson is now stepping into Reeves’ grounded, psychologically driven version of Gotham. Whatever character she’s playing, her comments suggest there’s considerably more to the role than simply joining another superhero franchise. THE BATMAN PART II is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on February 18, 2028.
