‘The Odyssey’ passes ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ as Korea’s top-grossing international film in local currency

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ surpassed ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ in local-currency box office receipts, Variety reports. As of October 11, 2026, it had earned KRW139.2 billion ($101.5 million) in Korea and drawn 12 million admissions. Only two Korean films had grossed more; its seven straight weekends at No. 1 were the longest such streak for an international release in Korea.
