James Talarico joins ‘SNL’s Trump cold open to ask for fewer Trump cold opens
Texas’s senator-elect joked about $5 fundraising texts, then turned an appeal for cooperation into a complaint about the show.
TLDR
Texas senator-elect James Talarico made a surprise cameo in Saturday Night Live’s Nov. 7, 2026, cold open opposite James Austin Johnson’s Trump. He joked about $5 fundraising texts, then turned an apparent appeal for cooperation into a jab at the show’s recurring Trump sketches. The Trump character’s answer to how many more sketches the show would do: “Infinity.” Apparently, this bit has no retirement plan.
