Director Ulrike Ottinger says the cuts disrupted the Isabelle Huppert vampire film’s rhythm, requiring a full re-edit.
At the Tokyo International Film Festival, Ottinger said her preferred version ran 15 to 20 minutes longer. She said she reworked the entire film after shortening it and now considers the shorter version “perfect.”
