Sundance's first 2027 Boulder selections include restored films and a 'Memento' audience discussion

The seven announced Legacy films are Better Luck Tomorrow, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Fool's Fire, Nitrate Kisses, Real Women Have Curves, Swoon and Y tu mamá también. The restorations vary: Sundance says the original 2002 festival cut of Better Luck Tomorrow, which differs from the version subsequently released, was restored in 4K. It also lists new 4K restorations of Real Women Have Curves and Y tu mamá también. Janus Films announced that the restoration of Y tu mamá también is set to premiere at the festival.

On the festival's final weekend, Cinema Interruptus featuring Memento is planned as a two-part screening and discussion of a 4K restoration of Christopher Nolan's film. Participants can call “Stop!” to comment or ask a question before the screening resumes. Critic and author Josh Larsen will moderate, with the goal of finishing the film during the second session.

Sundance says more Legacy programming and details of Letterboxd's onsite activities will follow.
