Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger gets Skydance name ahead of planned October 6 close

Variety reports that David Ellison announced Skydance as the name of the company to be formed by the Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The companies said the deal is set to close October 6, 2026. TechCrunch describes it as a roughly $110 billion deal. Variety says the combined company would bring together two film studios, HBO Max, Paramount+ and TV businesses including CBS and CNN.
