Russell T Davies calls BBC boss’s AI ‘Doctor Who’ remark ‘clumsy’

Variety reports that outgoing ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Russell T Davies criticized BBC director general Matt Brittin for calling a fully AI-generated episode “pretty good.” Davies called the remark “clumsy,” saying writers and artists would be the first to take the blow from AI. Brittin had also said AI would not replace humans. Davies expects production on a new series with a new Doctor and companion in summer 2027.
