EA reportedly shut down BioWare and canceled Mass Effect 5

Nerdist reports EA shut down BioWare and canceled the next Mass Effect game while cutting about 400 jobs, or 3% of its global workforce. IGN says 50 BioWare jobs were lost and that a leaked internal trailer identified the canceled project as Mass Effect: Universe. IGN also reports that BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk called EA’s private equity buyout “the final nail in the coffin.”
