‘Other Mommy’ entity’s ‘attack mode’ gets a behind-the-scenes look

Makeup effects artist Jeremy Selenfriend shared behind-the-scenes photos and footage of the “attack mode” creature in Rob Savage’s Other Mommy, Brad Miska reported for Dread Central on Oct. 21, 2026. Based on Josh Malerman’s Incidents Around the House, the film follows a girl whose family is terrorized by an entity that wants to inhabit her.

In the caption reproduced by Dread Central, Selenfriend says he designed the work with Brian Spears, Melanie Licata and others at Monster in My Closet. Hayley Spelman wore and performed the creature. Selenfriend says the look began with Vincent Proce’s concept art and went through many sculptural adaptations, using a stretched and distorted version of Jessica Chastain as a baseline. He says the black portion was planned as a placeholder for visual effects.
