Fifth 'Halloweentown' movie in early development at Disney

Disney has a fifth “Halloweentown” movie in early development, TheWrap reports. Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn are developing the script based on characters created by Paul Bernbaum, who wrote the original 1998 film, according to the outlet.

A Disney Channel and Disney+ release is conditional: Variety says the movie would air on both if greenlit. Variety gives no plot details and says casting is not confirmed.

The first “Halloweentown” followed Marnie Piper as she discovered she came from a line of witches. TheWrap notes that the fourth film, “Return to Halloweentown,” came out in 2006. Kimberly J. Brown played Marnie in the first three movies, and Sara Paxton took over the role in the fourth. TheWrap says it is unclear whether either actor will return.
