Amanda Ripley is no longer the protagonist, with the sequel heading to a planet. The 1979 film continues to shape the game's design, and Alien: Isolation 2 is scheduled for release in 2027.

It felt like the right way to do that would be in a new location, and being in a new location, then actually seeing it through the eyes of a new character, seemed to make a lot of sense for us. And a character that has a different perspective. She works for the company; she hasn’t encountered the creature before.” – Al Hope, Creative Director Here’s what the directors said: New protagonist You play as Blake, a company worker who has never encountered the creature before. Amanda Ripley is not the protagonist this time. Planet setting The game takes place on a planet rather than a spaceship. The team studied 1979 film archives to figure out how the original set designers and prop makers would have built spaces on a planetary surface, since no direct reference material exists for a planet. 1979 film roots Creative Assembly is staying true to Ridley Scott’s original Alien. They have access to behind-the-scenes photos, materials, and costume-building methods from 20th Century Studios. The Xenomorph is the same creature from the first game (the Haz Lab one) that landed on the new planet, now with higher detail and fidelity. Romulus connection The team was thrilled when Fede Álvarez included the emergency phone save station from the first game as an Easter egg in Alien: Romulus. Team The team is a mix of people who worked on the original Isolation and new talent. Many of them grew up as fans of the first game and now get to work on the sequel. Photo mode Confirmed.
