Jenna Ortega and Taika Waititi brought “Klara and the Sun” to the 21st Rome Film Festival on Oct. 17, appearing together at a photocall before Ortega attended the film’s Rome premiere.
Inside “Klara and the Sun”
Waititi directed, co-wrote and produced the dystopian drama, an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2021 novel, according to Reuters. Ortega stars as Klara, an outdated Artificial Friend who is bought by teenager Josie, played by Mia Tharia, and Josie’s mother, played by Amy Adams.
At the movie’s London world premiere two days earlier, Ortega called the story “timely,” while Waititi described it as probably his most dramatic film. Reuters reported that the movie, which also stars Natasha Lyonne, Steve Buscemi, Aran Murphy and Rachel House, will begin its global release Oct. 21.
