During Donald Trump's second term, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched nearly 70 actions to undo environmental rules, threatening air and water quality, increasing harmful chemical exposure, and worsening global warming. The EPA has exempted over a third of domestic coal plants and other facilities from Clean Air Act pollution standards, and narrowed the definition of waterways protected under the Clean Water Act. The agency has also moved to repeal or weaken rules on toxic chemicals, including PFAS and formaldehyde, and is poised to sharply increase greenhouse gas emissions by repealing the 2009 endangerment finding, the legal foundation for all federal climate regulations.
