Babysitting French Roper
I got to babysit my friend’s French bulldog for a week. Here are my successes and struggles:
Successes:
Crate Desensitization - I tried letting the little guy sleep with us and our dogs but quickly realized I’m allergic to short haired breeds, so crating him was the obvious next best thing. He wasn’t used to his crate and sounded like a demon was being exorcised out of him at first. After a few feedings in the crate and some reassurance, he settled down after only about 2 minutes. Huge win!
Attention - When he came to me, he acted like he didn’t know his name. With some patience and persistence (and lots of treats), I was able to snag his attention relatively easy by day 3.
Struggles:
Chasing the cat - Nough said.
Major separation anxiety - screaming and panicking when not in the same room as me.
What kinds of struggles have you run into when babysitting for others and how did you handle them?
Feel free to share any insight on my struggles and successes. I’d love to hear it!
