As a UX designer, I really, really dislike the new "New Post" interface
I think I get the concept, that it's supposed to be more like writing a blog post, with "blocks" and all. But it's strange that the devs are focused on fixing things that weren't broken instead of improving things that need it.
There's still no ability to upload an image if Digg doesn't detect an appropriate image from a link.
The UX is strange. Based on the order of items in the UI, it seems like you're supposed to type the title first, even though links usually create their own titles. Once you do click "link," the block expands, so now you have to mouse down to another part of the screen to paste the URL, and then instead of being able to hit Enter, you have to mouse over and click a little icon to finish.
If you do choose to upload images rather than share a link, there's no ability to change the order in which they appear, so you can only delete them all and start again in order to fix the order.
Annoyingly, all the clear affordances that showed what was an input area are gone, so you're just looking at a bare white screen. (I've included an image of the Reddit posting screen to show what I mean by clear affordances.)
None of these gripes are deal-killers. It can be used. It's not broken. It's just a clear case where a graphic designer got to choose something because it looked "cleaner," rather than a UX designer making choices to reduce friction and make a more satisfying experience for users.
