First post on the internet in a few years

I’m being intentionally naive and hopeful in writing this post. I haven’t posted on the internet in probably 4-5 years. I browse, sure, but I left Facebook, instagram and Twitter years ago. I was basically only using Reddit and trying to limit my use to only browsing one community at a time when I had an intentional need. I was afraid to browse. Afraid to engage in the infinite scroll. I avoided comments sections because I felt myself get upset or exhausted bouncing around the polarity of extreme opinions. I longed for a life where I just experienced things on my own with no idea what the rest of the world thinks of it. And in some ways this was and is fine and perhaps ultimately healthy. But I missed the internet. I’m not quite 40 but getting there and remember a simpler, open to possibilities internet that didn’t feel so controlled and designed to keep me hooked. Maybe Digg will be a flash in the pan. But I was on Digg from the start and had so many positive experiences on here. Even if this is the only time I feel this way it feels like I’m posting to other people, other humans, who will at least act with curiosity and kindness as two really simple principles that are ultimately free and endless.
