AskDigg: is self promotion ok?

Heya,

In the past few days I’ve noticed some digger repeatedly posting links pointing to their own website.

The things that stood out are that this digger’s username matches the website the links point to (eg, assume u/johnoe linking to johndoe.com) and that posts are not in English. All their posts link to the same website.

To their merit though they seem to be somewhat on topic with the community they’re posting to.

This is probably something that later on will be community-specific but I was curious to understand what’s the general consensus toward this sort of situation.
