Duplicate and similar posts

Hey there!

I'm wondering how you all feel about this. In my opinion, part of what made Reddit shitty was the repetition of posts that cover the same thing. This often happened within hours of each other. With a site as big as Reddit with such a huge backlog, it's a little bit more understandable. I have seen it a few times already on here. I'm not expecting everyone to see every single post on here (even though at this stage, you can probably get through everything in less than 30 minutes), but it's kinda annoying. Not sure if I'm the only one it bothers, but I think it really hurts the platform. What are your thoughts? How can this be prevented? I'm not a programmer or anything like that, but can this be avoided? Is there a way to program Digg so that when you are trying to make a new post on something that has been covered before it stops you or at least notifies you and directs you to that post? I would love to hear your thoughts
