Loving Digg’s design—thoughts on a centered, frosted-glass bottom bar for extra screen real estate?
I really like the current navigation in Digg—it’s clean and straightforward. That said, I wanted to gently suggest exploring a more compact bottom navigation style, inspired by the one in the IMDb iOS app (I’ve attached a screen recording for reference, better quality here).
A smaller, centered bar with a subtle frosted glass (semi-transparent) effect could offer a few nice advantages:
• It frees up more screen real estate for the main content, making scrolling feel more immersive, and allowing us to see more content.
• The translucency lets users still glimpse what’s underneath the bottom nav, creating a lighter, more elegant feel without fully obscuring the view.
• With the tabs grouped more closely together, the left and right edges of the screen become easier to reach and view, especially one-handed.
In comparison, the current full-width bar (stretching edge-to-edge without transparency) works well, but it does cover a bit more of the content and can make the sides feel slightly farther away on larger phones (like the iPhone Pro Max).
I’d love to hear your thoughts—this could be a subtle improvement that enhances the overall experience! 😊
