Downvoting a post shouldn’t hide it from peoples view

So sometimes a post deserves a down vote, but I’m still interested in reading it. If I downvote something, it hides the entire post, which is really frustrating. Also, the entire “post buried” thing is really over blown and makes it so you really don’t want to do this interaction. Like I feel like I’m doing something wrong downvoting something when it behaves like the report function on Reddit. If you made a negative report on Reddit, it hides the post like this. Maybe this was cute years ago, but now that you want people to interact in the comments below, it makes it so it hides all those comments and I can’t get to them without extra clicks. Now I was able to get back to the post, but I think most users wouldn’t be able to figure this out. It would also severely discourage interactions.
