Friend interaction/functionality?

Hey, just curious, not sure if this was answered, but I would love to see messaging and adding friends or following people or something like that so we can interact with each other personally as well. Personally, I want to see this website succeed as a viable alternative to reddit and that will include having some of its core functionality. What does everyone here think?
