Android app not keeping context when switching between apps

I am on Android 16, Pixel 9 Pro. I have not been able to reproduce this consistently, but occasionally when I navigate away from the Digg app to another app, and then switch back to Digg, I am booted back to the home page instead of staying on whatever page I was already on. This is particularly annoying when I'm viewing a specific community or post, then navigate to my browser to look up something related, and then try to go back to Digg right after and lose the context.
