A bad airport experience is always annoying, but holiday goers can at least find solace in the fact that a vacation is waiting for them on the other side — or that they've just enjoyed a pleasant trip away before the ordeal of getting home. For those traveling for work, however, there's no such comfort.

To determine which of the world's airports are best and worst for business travel, BusinessFinancing calculated the average ratings for major global airports by Airline Quality reviewers defined as "business travelers" under the website's "type of traveler" filter, then ranked the airports according to their average scores.

The study omitted airports that weren't international according to Wikipedia.

Key Findings:

  • According to the study, only 12 of the world's airports are rated above 5/10 by business travellers.

  • The world's best airport, according to business travellers, is Vietnam's Noi Bai International Airport, which received an average rating of 6.80/10.

  • Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium is the least popular airport among business travellers, scoring just 1.20/10, on average.

  • The highest-rated US airport is Midway International Airport in Chicago (4.37/10), while the lowest-scoring is Fort Lauderdale—Hollywood International Airport (1.64).

...based on what criteria? How does an airport that has only three intercontinental routes (all served by one airline), has one contract lounge, and lacks "signage to get you from domestic to international" get the highest rating from business travelers?
