Atari 2600 Mod upcoming
This takes me back. An Atari 2600 was the first system I ever modded with my Pops over 20 years ago. Modded it for composite a/v out and added an orange power LED.
I still have that system, and it still works.
I found an untested 4-switch 2600 on eBay for $20 and took a risk that it either already worked, or that I could get it working.
The system was delivered yesterday. Got
Lucky. I hooked it up to an RF to Coax adapter and it works! I haven’t opened the system up yet so I have no idea what I’m getting into.
Here’s the plan:
Open and clean the system as needed.
Recap the system and swap out the voltage regulator.
Add a newer version composite mod with brightness control.
Add a pause mod to allow me to pause gameplay.
Cross my fingers that it all works properly when I’m done.
I’m unfamiliar with these 2 specific mods so I’ll be learning as I go, but I’ll share progress here - successful or not. We can learn together.
Parts incoming next week.
Looking forward to this one :)
