Anthropic's AI model, Claude, assisted NASA’s Perseverance rover in navigating a 400-meter path on Mars, marking the first use of AI in planning Mars rover drives. The AI helped to cut route-planning time in half, allowing for more drives, data collection, and analysis. This test run for autonomous capabilities could prove beneficial for future missions, including NASA's Artemis campaign to return humans to the Moon and establish a base on the lunar south pole.
