Using ChatGPT/translate uses your GPT5 response tokens
Just an FYI that OpenAI neglected to mention with the launch of their laughable translation "app":
https://www.chatgpt.com/translate
If you are logged into your ChatGPT account and use /translate - it looks like you are not logged into ChatGPT, but you are.
Every time you type a letter and it starts generating the translation, it counts as a message you've sent ChatGPT 5, because that's all it is, it just puts the text with "translate: en; tone: academic" or whatever - it just sends the text with that line through to ChatGPT5 - BUT IT SENDS A NEW MESSAGE EVERY KEY PRESS.
I've just used ALL my ChatGPT 5.x messages for the day in 40 minutes by making nothing but translation requests.
All of a sudden it started saying, "Translation failed" so I clicked the suggestion buttons - lo and behold it opens up chatGPT with the text and "translate, en, tone, neutral" and that's it.
No evidence that I've spent the tokens, but my ChatGPT account - that I've not used today - tells me my ChatGPT 5 limit resets tomorrow at 01:19AM when I start a new chat.
OPENAI ARE VERY QUICKLY LOSING MY TRUST AND CONFIDENCE.
THAT THEIR TRANSLATION "APP" USES A MESSAGE EVERY KEYPRESS WHEN TYPING IN STUFF TO TRANSLATE IS FINE - THE FACT IT TAKES THOSE MESSAGES FROM MY PLUS ACCOUNT QUOTA IS NOT FINE.
F**K OPENAI AND F**K CHATGPT.
