Wandering the Tungsten Hills
I took a few photos while wandering around with the dog in the Tungsten Hills yesterday. If you’re not familiar, they’re just West and North of Bishop. The hills are easy to get to on dirt roads. Folks often run, walk, and hike the hills. They’re also riddled with old mines that have been worked since the early 1900’s. Most are sealed, and can’t be explored, but not all. Please be careful if you do, though. Check YouTube for videos of mine exploration in the Tungsten Hills, as they’re pretty cool. There’s miles and miles of trails, old camps, and mines to explore, so if you’ve got the time and inclination, go out there and explore. You never know what you’ll find. This time, I came across a little ceramic figurine, a property marker (it’s not a USGS marker, so I’m not sure what it’s for), and an old couch set up in the rocks… :)
