Beaver County residents could stop paying emissions tax under new plan
Lawmakers in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, are considering ending the emissions testing requirement for drivers, citing the high cost of waivers and the burden on low and fixed-income individuals and small business owners. The county, one of four in the region subject to federal emissions testing due to air pollution concerns, has a relatively low population and small businesses that are disproportionately affected by the current policy. The proposed legislation aims to alleviate the financial strain and inconvenience caused by the testing requirement.
