Ben Batterham receives payout from NSW government for wrongful prosecution
A jury found Benjamin Batterham not guilty of the 2016 murder and manslaughter of home intruder Richard Slater. Mr Batterham pursued police, via the NSW government, for costs, estimated to be in excess of $1 million, after a judge said the murder charge should have been withdrawn.
A Newcastle man, Benjamin Batterham, will receive a confidential payout from the NSW government for wrongful prosecution by police for an alleged home invasion murder. A jury found him not guilty of the 2016 murder and manslaughter of home intruder Richard Slater.
