'Behemoth star,' previously thought to be dying, is 'rising from the ashes' like a pheonix

A new study challenges the previous assumption that the red supergiant WOH G64, also known as the 'behemoth star,' is transitioning into a yellow hypergiant, which would have indicated an imminent supernova. The study, published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, suggests that WOH G64 remains a red supergiant, possibly due to being part of a binary system with a smaller star that is pulling its outer layers into a circumstellar disk.
