My mom loves to crochet but doesn't like classic crochet, so now I'm the owner of a variety of her test works
My mom started to crochet after knitting started to hurt her arms and hands too much. She's definitely a very colorful person who doesn't really to make your typical sweaters (once I got home from spending a week with my friends and she knitted me a whole Minion sweater with a matching beanie with an eye on it) and blankets or crochet dolls. She used to make us cosplays as well and loves the process of coming up with how to create something new.
She also had to stop working because of the pain in her body and started to crochet a whole lot more. I often get requests to think of something for her to make, because she doesn't really just want to make stuff for no one and got bored. I also own a huge round cat, a pink/purple shipping bag with a dragons eye (which my cat loves to sleep on) and a TARDIS blanket. Half these things just suddenly end up in my house.
Sometimes she sells stuff, she makes commissions and one of her first orders was a Joe Biden doll. She thought it was hilarious.
Nowadays my nieces are old enough to spoil her with constant requests, so they keep her plenty busy when she gets bored again! She has a market stall twice a year and crochets little amigurumi animals for Halloween and for charity. Her charity of choice is one that helps children in poverty in Cape Verde.
As someone who doesn't have an artistic bone in her body, I am very grateful to have a mom like that.
