Apple May Break a 12-Year Chip Strategy
TSMC has been the exclusive supplier of Apple's systems-on-a-chip since 2014, but Apple is exploring options to diversify its supply chain. According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is considering manufacturing some of its lower-end processors with a company other than TSMC. This move could involve Intel, which may begin supplying Apple with lower-end chips for non-pro iPhone models as early as 2028, as well as Mac and iPad chips by mid-2027.
