Education system not seen as strong by Albertans, most oppose public funding of private schools: poll
A recent Angus Reid Institute poll reveals that 63% of Albertans believe the current education system is not strong and healthy. The survey also found that 77% of respondents support expanding access to educational opportunities within public schools, while only 39% agree with expanding opportunities outside of public schools. Additionally, a majority of 64% support public funding for children with special needs attending independent schools, while 45% support funding for low-income families and 42% for medium-income families. The poll was conducted from January 27 to 30 and surveyed 516 adults living in Alberta.
The survey, conducted by the Angus Reid Institute, showed mixed opinions on whether a variety of school options is an asset to Alberta's education system.
